First Reconciliation

Reconciliation is a sacrament for all Catholics to partake in God’s forgiveness and mercy. It is also an opportunity to reflect on and discern how you can heal the wounds your sin has created around you.

First Reconciliation, also sometimes referred to as First Confession, is typically celebrated no sooner than the 2nd grade year, but can sometimes be later when the child is most ready to recognize the difference between sin and accident. First Reconciliation must be completed prior to First Eucharist. First Reconciliation is most often celebrated in the early winter/December and requires additional preparation beyond the child’s regular formation classes. In most cases this includes a parent night and a retreat day. For more information please contact Angela Bieda in the Faith Formation Office 920-499-6012

First Eucharist

The Eucharist is a sacrament for all Catholics to gather around God’s table and bring Jesus fully into their hearts and minds. It is a sacrament we are blessed to experience on a weekly, and possibly daily, basis.

First Eucharist is typically celebrated in the 2nd grade year, but the preparation is open to children and adults of all ages. For our 2nd grade families, the process typically includes a couple of extra family sessions and a retreat/practice morning. First Eucharist is most often celebrated in the Spring following Easter. Confirmation

October Confirmation 2020.jpg

Confirmation is the sacrament in which the Holy Spirit is called down upon an individual to seal them with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This is the final initiation sacrament that began with Baptism. This is typically where an individual claims the faith and a relationship with Jesus as their own versus having the faith claimed for them by their guardians at baptism.

Confirmation at Nativity is typically celebrated in the junior (11) grade year, but can also happen earlier or later during the high school years. The celebration can happen at various times of the year, but always includes specific preparation sessions (on regular formation class nights) and a day retreat and practice. Service hours and additional paperwork as well as the selection of a sponsor, or Catholic guide, is required. Sponsors are asked to walk the Confirmation process with their students and celebrate the sacrament with them. Additional arrangements can be made if a sponsor is unable to be present for the sacrament Mass. For more information please contact Angela Bieda in the Faith Formation Office 920-499-6012
